Texas Joe’s House of Ribs, Subic Bay Freeport Zone

Texas Joe's Another month, another restaurant to visit. This time, it was “Texas Joe’s House of Ribs” at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. As usual, I was accompanied by my entourage (my wife Josie, daughter-in-law Cathy and bilas Alex).

After doing all the beginning of the month things I always do, we stopped to eat. I ate too much and I didn’t really eat that much at all.

I spent almost twice as much at Texas Joe’s as I did at Sit-N-Bull in June. (We skipped the restaurant thing last month because the monthly budget was a bit too tight.) It was worth it.

Josie ordered the largest rack of ribs (pork ribs) they had for the four of us. It was too much. With the side dishes, it was way too much. We brought half of the ribs home with us and let Alex have them for his four daughters later in the day.

Sit-N-Bull is ranked number one in Olongapo but Texas Joes’s House of Ribs is ranked number one at the freeport zone, according to TripAdvisor.

We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened. In fact, we were one of the only two parties there. That didn’t last long. In an hour, the restaurant was packed.

Texas Joe’s has an authentic western theme. The waitresses were dressed in cowboy costumes and western movies were playing on the televisions mounted on the walls. I can totally understand why expats like to meet there. There’s a bar inside and there’s a bar outside, for those who like to drink before, during or after their meals.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the ambiance. I’m not a big country music fan, but the country music playing in the background was perfect.

Finding Texas Joe’s House of Ribs

Frankly, only an idiot would have trouble finding Texas Joe’s. Most of the “expensive” restaurants are on Waterfront Road, even though I don’t consider Texas Joe’s expensive. Trust me. I spent way more for less, more than a decade ago in the United States.

It’s one of the few restaurants with a sign easy to spot while driving on Waterfront Road, which, by the way, is a one-way road. There’s ample parking in front, as you can plainly see in the picture at the top of article. Even if they run out of parking spaces, there’s plenty of roadside parking available all hours of the day.

Once again, I could probably write a proper review, but I won’t. Just saying I liked the food, the atmosphere and the hospitality should be enough.
