I have seen every Spider-Man movie to date and this is the best version of both the Peter Parker and Spider-Man personas by far. I won’t rank them other than saying the very first Spider-Man movie comes in second.
This is the first movie we’ve watched in the Philippines on its opening day (four of us). Even though we watched the 3 pm showing, it was a full house. I anticipated this so I had my daughter-in-law, Cathy, buy the tickets at the Harbor Point theater (in the Harbor Point mall, Subic Bay Freeport Zone) yesterday.
This is a movie I knew I would enjoy. I mentioned as much to my wife, Josie, yesterday. Weeks ago, I told her I wanted to watch a movie where I knew what it was about and I would still enjoy it. Since then, this is the first movie that fit the bill. I’m sure I said it after I saw the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which I didn’t enjoy as much as the first.
Since I wrote about my first movie theater movie experience in more than a decade, I’ve seen several movies in the same theater. Here’s what I remember:
I purposely skipped “Wonder Woman”. Cathy took someone with her to watch it, other than the usual suspects. For whatever reason, I didn’t feel like watching it. Cathy said I probably wouldn’t like it as it seemed like it was aimed at women.
As you can probably guess, most of the movies I like are live-action comic book movies. I don’t care for the animated movies.
I have a copy of all the MCU movies except for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming. I’ll eventually get a copy of them as well. I have enough to go on a movie marathon already. I probably won’t do that, however, until the day comes when I have nothing to left to watch.
