A Keto Diet is a Low-Carbohydrate Diet, Very Similar to a Ketogenic Diet

A “keto diet”, as it’s become known as, is a low-carbohydrate diet that’s very similar to a ketogenic diet. In fact, I would call it the same thing even though some doctors and nutritionists would probably disagree with me.

A ketogenic diet consists of high-fat, low-carbohydrate and adequate-protein foods. A keto diet consists of the same things but not to the same extremes. At least, that’s how I understand it.

Following a Keto Diet may be Difficult

This is especially true when you’re around people who’ve been brainwashed by decades of lies. The doctors and nutritionists don’t intentionally lie, but they lie nonetheless. It’s kind of like how the egg suddenly became bad and then later became good.

Well-meaning siblings and partners will tell you that you need to eat this or that or you won’t be healthy. If you’re obese, you’re already not healthy. The definition of obesity has changed over the years but essentially, you’re fat. Even if you just have a hanging belly, like me.

In my case, I like some of the food that’s not considered keto, like grains. I don’t want to give up oats and wheat and corn and… I’m not gluten-intolerant at all. I’m not dairy-intolerant either. It’s probably because I don’t eat or drink these things very frequently at all. I prefer a high-fat breakfast.

I have no problems giving up potatoes and rice. They’re probably where I get most of my carbohydrates from.

Starting a Keto Diet

There’s a lot of information available, you just have to look for it. In many cases, you can jump-start a keto diet by going full-on carnivore. That means you eat nothing but animal meat for a few days. You need other vitamins and minerals, so it shouldn’t be longer than a few days.

Another way to jump-start a keto diet is by fasting for two or three days. That means no food at all and only water to drink.

The key is to cause your body to metabolize your stored fat instead of getting it from the carbohydrates in the food you eat. Trust me, you won’t die from eating food items with fewer carbohydrates.

Maintaining a Keto Diet

Once you get going, it isn’t hard to maintain a keto diet. In fact, you may like your keto diet so much that you won’t entertain the idea of giving it up.

Of course, I haven’t met anyone yet who can avoid things like ice cream when it’s shoved in your face. As long as it isn’t often, it can’t hurt.

My Keto Diet

I was following a keto diet years ago without even realizing it. It was around the same time I was suffering from severe heartburn and acid reflux. I basically threw up anything that wasn’t animal meat.

I’m not sure how I’m going to start my keto diet this time but I’ll be starting it soon. I’ll probably start it right after I arrive in Florida next week. My older son and daughter-in-law live in base housing, so I should have plenty of opportunities to walk some of it off.
