A sister-in-law’s husband is going to be working on a new website tentatively called “Philippines Sights and Sounds”. Unfortunately, he can’t work on it until after my wife departs the Philippines on May 23rd. I’ll tell you why in a minute.
Design, Hosting, Etc.
I’ll be doing most of the grunt work in getting this new website set up. It will be another subdomain of rtcx.net, but I haven’t decided on the actual part that goes in front of that.
It’s going to be in a blog format, but I’m thinking of adding a dedicated gallery page or two.
Alex’s Failure
Alex is the bilas I’m talking about. The first website I set up for him was a failure in all aspects and it was hosted on my server, under a dedicated domain name.
It started out as a good idea and involved photography. Unfortunately, the people he wanted to photograph didn’t want their pictures taken and the rest is history. The Philippines is rife with frauds and scams and people couldn’t discern his activities as being any different.
So… the website is a failure, but it isn’t anyone’s fault. It’s just how it is. Now he’s moving onto something else.
Our Relationship
Alex is one bilas of many. In the Philippines, the spouse of a sister-in-law or the spouse of a brother-in-law is called a bilas whereas a brother-in-law is called a bayaw and a sister-in-law is called a hipag. Of course, this is in the Tagalog language and I don’t know what it is in any of the other languages.
Regardless, Alex is also my friend and my driver, when he’s not driving a taxi at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Building the New Website
Alex will start off by taking photograph after photograph of places and things in or near Olongapo City, Philippines and that includes the adjacent Subic Bay Freeport Zone. He has an excellent digital camera to do the job with.
Other than designing the website while setting everything up, I’ll be his mentor until he’s comfortable doing it all on his own.
Oh, I almost forgot the why: My wife has him driving for her almost every day until she leaves. He can’t even drive taxi until she leaves him alone.
